Today is the 4th of July here in the U.S., also known as Independence Day. I’ve been working hard recently on recreating my website and decided that I needed to give myself a day off today. After all, it is a holiday! I must remember the importance of recharging my batteries.
When I got up this morning I made a cup of coffee and went outside to sit with my flowers and trees and fresh air (and my sweet Newfoundland). I just sat and enjoyed the freedom of doing absolutely nothing. To listen to the birds singing, to gaze out at nothing, to choose to do some deep breathing, to look at the beautiful colors of the flowers. I had brought a novel with me to read, but never picked it up. I just let myself BE. After awhile I found that I was receiving blips of inspiration popping in. It was wonderful – I didn’t have to DO anything but relax, and work was getting done! All I had to do was jot down a few notes.
So many of us crave the idea of freedom. I think we can grab snippets of freedom and will find huge benefits. We can turn on a favorite song and take a few minutes to dance in our kitchen, make a cup of tea and sip it outside, or take a bubble bath instead of a shower some mornings. We can CHOOSE to feel carefree! Give it a try.
