So, today I’d like to talk about the Creative Genius that resides inside of you.
For a long time, I didn’t believe that I was “creative”. I’ve always thought of myself as a “stick figure drawing kind of gal”. I think it stems from when I was little and Sister Mary Something-or-other made an example of me in front of the whole class about how we should NOT color. I can remember it vividly. She drew a teardrop figure on the blackboard and colored it way outside the lines in a really messy way, saying that it was how I was coloring and that we are NOT supposed to do it that way! (Holy smokes, just writing this brings back those feelings of embarrassment and being wrong.) Tap, tap, tap (EFT tapping).
I didn’t realize until I was older that throughout my life, I actually had done creative things. I had been good at ballet and dance; I used to sew; I could crochet and knit. And when I was in my twenties, I made spaghetti sauce that all my Italian friends raved about
In life and business, we do creative things. We decorate our children’s birthday cakes; we create systems or projects in our job or our business; we lend our creative essence to our websites; we write beautiful words in greeting cards; we write tips and inspiration in our newsletters.
The inspiration we get for these things are from our Inner Creative Genius. This part of us is very connected to Spirit. (Ha! I’m getting an image of a Bohemian-looking angel dancing around us, being our muse! With a beret instead of a halo
I find that when I engage in creative things like knitting, doodling, or coloring, I start getting ideas popping into my head. It may be for something to write about, something new to offer in my business, or words to put in a graphic. These types of quiet, repetitive, focused activities put me in a relaxed state where I can connect more with Spirit and with my Inner Creative Genius.
If you’re looking to get more creative with your life or your business, start doing simple creative things. They don’t have to be knitting or coloring; perhaps for you it is playing the piano, singing in the shower, trying out new recipes, redecorating your bedroom, or pulling out your paint brushes and letting them just glide across paper with colorful paints.
I’ve been enjoying a new doodling technique called Zentangle. It is indeed very Zen-like while doing it. It’s meant to be an active meditation. Nothing needs to look perfect (I like that about it And then I like coloring them in. I did two of these while at my boys’ swim meet this weekend ~ doodling away in my own little Zen world.
Loved this!!! So simple & true!! xoxoxoxo
