Wow – it’s already February 1st! In my recent newsletter, I spoke about coming up with three theme words for 2013. My three words were Balance, Receive and Flow. Have you connected with your three words, or perhaps an intention? It’s never too late to set your intentions for the upcoming months!
This week I wanted to personally focus on my theme word “Balance“. This is an area that so many of us struggle with. Sometimes we are working on projects that have deadlines, sometimes we have sick children or elderly parents who need more of our attention, and sometimes it’s just the busy-busy-busyness of everyday life. It’s so easy to get caught up in the “have to’s” that we forget to take time for self care. I don’t know about you, but I must admit to being a little less patient and a little cranky when I’m out of balance. (Just ask my kids and husband
After pushing myself to make a couple of deadlines, I knew I needed to give myself some “Me” time. I chose to spend one morning this week for this. I lit the fireplace and a candle, put on some music, and picked a few flowers from our yard. I spent quite of bit of my “Me” time thinking of ways to bring in more Balance. Part of this was done by working on my 2013 Incredible Year workbook.
(That’s me in cozy sweatpants and socks, working on the workbook page for listing “100 things to do in 2013”. And I focused on things that were self-nurturing.)
I also signed up for a program that combines meditation and doodling art “to meet your sacred self”. (I’m so excited to start this next week!) It’s just what my Soul needs right now. Anyone want to join in with me?
I felt so refreshed by the afternoon! It’s amazing how something as simple as creating sacred space and having some time just for Me makes such a big shift!
So, I encourage you to consider small things you can do to nurture yourself. Perhaps it’s taking a bubble bath, taking an afternoon break with a cup of herbal tea, or getting to bed early.
For those of you who are also soul-centered entrepreneurs, you know how it is to have lots of tasks on your to-do list as you grow your business. Do you find that there are certain tasks or projects that actually fuel you? Perhaps it is when you are in creation mode and you are letting your True Brilliance flow out of you. Take note of what things lift you up, and choose to do those whenever you can to keep your energy high.
I recently had my website’s sidebar banners redesigned. I find that I love being deeply involved in the creative process with my graphic designer. I love “feeling into” which colors, images, and design are just right for my site. This task did not feel like work! Take a peek at what we came up with :-).
As I’m sure you can see, my Inner Creative Self had a great time!
So, to connect with what would nurture you, I invite you to ask yourself these questions:
- What brings me joy? How can I incorporate those things into my daily life?
- What simple things can I sprinkle into my day that will refresh and refill me?
- What can I do that will add more fulfillment to my day? Or fun, or peace, or pleasure? (Whatever feeling you are craving right now)
- What aspects of my business or work do I really enjoy? How can I do more of this? Can I outsource the aspects that I don’t love, or am not good at?
- How can I work in self-nurturing things into my day or week? Put them in my calendar? Just take periodic breaks in the day and choose one of my ideas?
The world needs you and your Light, so please don’t let yourself get out of balance or burned out. And also, we all need to honor ourselves so that our journey here on Earth is an enjoyable one! So, take some time for you. You deserve it!
