Working Retreat

Today is the first full day of my “working retreat”. Being a mom, it can be hard sometimes to have enough focused time on projects I want to create. So, my (wonderful) husband agreed to take some time off of work so I could get away for some uninterrupted inspiration and productive time.

I’m spending a WEEK at the ocean. Me, myself, and I! (Well, along with my laptop, printer, files, etc.) I’m in a great hotel “room” that has a kitchen and dining room. Plenty of space to spread out to work, and not have to leave for meals if I don’t want to.

It is a little hard for me to get into the groove in an unfamiliar place right away, so I’m giving myself “permission” to just do whatever I’m inspired to do today and just get acquainted with my new space. I’m having a lovely time so far. I started with doing a little “doodling” this morning. I’m taking a fun e-course by Renee Yemma called “Calm Mama”. It’s all about taking little bits of time to get calm; out of your left-brain and into your right-brain by doodling. Here’s my doodling I did this morning. It may not be a Monet, but it sure was enjoyable!

I took a walk to the nearby market when the maid came to clean the room. I was quite pleased to see there was a Farmer’s Market happening right there today. I bought some lovely flowers to add a little beauty and nature to my room and some veggies for my dinner. Now that’s making this place feel a little better :-)

I had a perfect lunch out on my patio, looking at the ocean. I nibbled on cheese, baguette, tapenade, celery, and hummus. I was in “hog heaven”! Yep, I am off to a great start and looking forward to a great week!
